What to do after a loss
- If there’s an emergency, get to safety and call emergency services first. Everything else can wait.
- Find your carrier’s claims information. The claims phone number or website is usually printed on your policy documents and on your insurance ID cards.
- Contact your carrier through its official claims channel. That’s where a claim is reported and handled.
- Call Jarvis if you have questions about the process. We can help you understand what to expect and what to ask.
Information that tends to help
- Your policy number and the date and time of the loss
- A short description of what happened and photos of any damage, if it’s safe to take them
- Names and contact information for anyone else involved, and a police report number if one was filed
- Notes on any steps you’ve taken to prevent further damage
Your carrier may ask for different information. Follow its instructions.
A few things to know
Jarvis doesn’t replace your carrier’s claims process, and this page can’t tell you whether a particular loss is covered. Coverage depends on your policy’s terms, limits and exclusions, and the carrier makes coverage decisions.
